    The Help You Need

Moving a parent is more than picking a building.

The hardest question is usually how to pay for it. There are more answers than most families realize - the house, a forgotten policy, benefits earned decades ago. Here are the ones we help families use every week, at no cost to you.

    Selling the family home

Turn the house into the fund that pays for care, without the pressure of a rushed sale.

For many families the home is the single biggest source of care funding. A sale can be planned around your timeline, with help preparing the house, pricing it fairly and handling the paperwork.

Who it helps: Families whose loved one is moving to a community and will not be returning to the house, and who want the equity working toward care.

    Renting the home out

Keep the house in the family and let monthly rent help cover the monthly cost of care.

Instead of selling, the home can produce steady rental income that offsets community fees. Property management can handle tenants, maintenance and rent collection so the family does not have to.

Who it helps: Families who are not ready to part with the home, or who want time before deciding, while still putting it to work.

    Reverse mortgage

Unlock home equity as monthly income or a line of credit while a spouse still lives at home.

A reverse mortgage lets homeowners 62 and older draw on their home equity without selling. It is heavily regulated and is not the right fit for everyone, so independent counseling is always part of the process.

Who it helps: Couples where one spouse moves to a community and the other stays in the home, or homeowners who need care funds but want to keep the house.

    Selling a life insurance policy

A policy you no longer need may be worth real money toward care today.

Through a life settlement, a life insurance policy can be sold for a lump sum that is often several times its cash surrender value. The funds can go straight toward senior living costs.

Who it helps: Policyholders who no longer need the coverage, or families facing premiums that no longer make sense to keep paying.

    VA Aid & Attendance

Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for monthly money most families never claim.

Aid & Attendance is a VA pension benefit that adds monthly income for wartime veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily living. Many eligible families simply never apply.

Who it helps: Veterans who served during a wartime period, and their surviving spouses, who need help with daily activities or are moving into care.

    Long-term care insurance help

Already own a policy? We help families actually use it - and get claims paid.

Long-term care policies are notoriously hard to read and to claim against. The right help can determine what a policy actually covers, start the claim and keep it moving.

Who it helps: Families holding a long-term care policy bought years ago who are not sure what it covers or how to start a claim.

    Local family support groups

You are not the first family to walk this road - and you do not have to walk it alone.

Caregiver and family support groups meet locally and online - places to trade practical advice, hear from families a few steps ahead of you, and breathe.

Who it helps: Adult children and spouses carrying the day-to-day weight of a loved one's care, before and after a move.

Help first. That's the whole idea.
