What the Verified badge means
When you see Verified on a community's page, the information there is maintained by the community itself - and we've checked that they are who they say they are.
How a community gets verified
A community claims its listing and is verified one of two ways:
The email matches the community
The person managing the listing signed up with a work email address on the community's own website domain - for example, an @sunrisegardens.com address for Sunrise Gardens - and confirmed it by clicking a link sent to that inbox.
Or Spiro has spoken with them directly
For communities without a matching email domain, a Spiro team member verifies the listing personally - by speaking with the community's leadership and confirming who should manage it.
What a verified community can do
Verified communities keep their own page current: photos, descriptions, care types, amenities, room types, current rates, insurance details, staff and more. Updates go live automatically after an automated screening.
One exception: a change to the community's name is always reviewed by the Spiro team first. A name change usually means new ownership or a rebrand, and we confirm what's happening before it appears - so a listing can never be quietly taken over.
Why it matters for families
Senior living details change constantly - rates, availability, staff, services. On an unverified listing, information comes from our research and may lag behind. On a Verified listing, it comes from the community itself, so what you see is what the community is telling you directly. Either way, a Spiro advisor can confirm the latest details for you at no charge.
